The Ward has a number of facilities and services to support the local community. These facilities include two parks, Fawdon Park and North Kenton Park, which is home to Kenton Sports Centre offering a range of sports facilities including two bowling pavilions, an all weather pitch, tennis courts and a children’s playground. Local facilities also include a sports centre located off Anfield Road, and two small shopping areas, Fawdon Park shops and the North Kenton Shopping Centre which is located on Kirkwood Drive. In addition to the shopping facilities at North Kenton there is a Neighbourhood Customer Service Centre which provides a local contact point for residents to find out what services the council has to offer on their doorstep. Fawdon has two primary schools, Regent Farm First and North Fawdon Primary.

The winning designs were produced by pupils from Mountfield Primary School and North Fawdon Primary School, and will be appearing on lamp posts and bins in the near future
Fawdon ward was a mining community with pits in North Kenton, Coxlodge, and Fawdon. The Ward has changed over the years and now provides a home for a number of new businesses including the Nestle Factory and Sanofi-Aventis, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.
